Dentures & Partial Dentures

What are dentures?

A denture is a removable appliance that fits over your toothless ridge. They can sometimes be placed immediately after your teeth are pulled so that you do not have to go toothless while your new denture is being made.

How often should I get my dentures checked?

If you have old, worn or loose fitting dentures, you could be causing harm to your remaining jaw bone without knowing it. Your dentures should be checked every 2-3 years to make sure they are still lining up with each other correctly. An oral cancer screening is also done at the denture checkup, and that alone is worth the exam fee.

What are partial dentures?

A removable appliance can also be made if you have some of your own teeth remaining. This is called a partial denture, and getting one could actually increase the life expectancy of your remaining teeth.
